We are open by appointment for wine purchases, but closed for tastings until March 14th. We will be open 1-4pm on March 14th and 15th for tastings and sales, then closed again until Friday, April 3rd. The tasting room will be open over the Easter weekend, and subsequent weekends in April. Regular hours commence Friday, May 1st – please see detailed hours under the Sales & Tastings tab.
We begin this year’s harvest on September 22nd – the Schonburger is beautifully ripe and ready for crush. We’ll be into the Gewurztraminer and Merlot fairly soon too, with high sugar levels. This is at least 1 week earlier than most years. If the dry weather holds this should be a fantastic vintage.
Friday, June 27th – 12-5PM & Saturday, June 28th 10AM-Noon: don’t miss out on a vertical tasting of our flagship Merlot/Cab – the Hourglass. Vintages from 2006 to present will be poured. FREE for our Wine Club members – $10 for others. Our 2012 release is scheduled for August 1st. See the EVENTS page for more details.
Our 2013 vintage white wines, 2013 Spiderling Red, 2012 Phobia, and 2012 Red Back are now available! Wine Club shipments are scheduled to leave the winery the week of May 5th.
April 30th – Uncork Your Palate – Victoria
May 2nd – Wine for Waves – Vancouver
May 22nd – S.S. Sicamous Centennial Celebration / wine tasting – Pentction
We’re getting very close to bottling our 2013 Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer, Schonburger, Oasis, Rose, & Spiderling Red, along with our 2012 Phobia and new Red Back blend. It’s not too late to join the Wine Club for our May 5th shipment of these wines. Cheers!
A selection of 2012 reds and all of our 2013 whites will be released towards the end of April. Watch for 2 new reds – SPIDERLING RED 2013 & RED BACK 2012. We are now taking advance orders through our on-line shop.
Thanks to everyone who entered our most recent Newsletter competition. The correct answer was Prickly Pear Cactus, and the latin name for the variety here in the Okanagan is Opuntia fragilis. We put everyone’s name in that was reasonably close, and by random draw, Jim Rexford was the lucky winner of 3 bottles of Black Widow wines.
The results are in, and our entries placed well especially considering these were new vintages just bottled, often up against older wines. Most notably a SILVER for our 2012 Pinot Gris (highest score for a 2012 P. Gris from the Naramata Bench).
At a recent Vancouver tasting, we were pleased to have John Schreiner, a prolific Canadian wine writer, visit our table for a tasting. Every new release scored 90 or 91 points – a clean sweep for our 2013 Spring Release!
